Florence Macdonald Boogaerts received a certificate in Landscape Design from the New York Botanical Garden where she has lectured on garden history and design since 1994. Also, she lectures to garden clubs and Greenwich, CT Continuing Education. She lectures on and is preparing a book about the gardens of Belgium.

Since spring of 2003, Boogaerts has practiced independently. She was the principle landscape designer at Sprainbrook Nursery in Scarsdale, New York from 1988 to 2003.

She completed a course in Garden Design at Harvard University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (Art History) from Newcomb College at Tulane University in her native New Orleans where she finished the Academy of the Sacred Heart.

She is a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers. She participates in both the Internationals Stauden (herbaceous perennials) Union bi-annual congresses in western Europe and in the Perennial Plant Association annual conferences. She was on the board of Metro Hort Group in New York City for six years.

In New York City she spearheaded the restoration of Central Park's Shakespeare Garden and is responsible for numerous street tree plantings for the Esteé Lauder Foundation and Community Groups. She was the founding chair of the Historic Preservation committee of the New York Junior League.
